American culture champions: money whores, power whores, and attention whores. This is why the current American leadership is lawless.
Enough people were so extremely desperate for social acceptance, they were willing to endure hazing to get into Trump’s inner circle– the dominant, criminal faction of the GOP. It’s human nature. It’s Mindy Kaling’s “Is everyone hanging out without me?”
Since they got in, their comfortable myths won’t let them leave. This Bertrand Russell quote can never be repeated enough:
“There is something feeble and a little contemptible about a man who cannot face the perils of life without the help of comfortable myths. Almost inevitably some part of him is aware that they are myths and that he believes them only because they are comforting. But he dare not face this thought! Moreover, since he is aware, however dimly, that his opinions are not rational, he becomes furious when they are disputed.”
They leave only when they’re sufficiently harmed financially or emotionally.
Clearly, this is how greedy or fearful the people in power are: Trump himself is mentally incompetent, but he still has yet to be removed from office! Very few people believed he would become president of the United States in the first place.
This is a bad situation for the world. But history has these hiccups. Here’s the song Trump’s inner-circle members are singing.
